Newsletter No.23(b) – Wednesday 4th March 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

Coronavirus

I sent home a letter yesterday from the local authority with up to date information about the Coronavirus. I will keep you updated if anything changes in the next few days and weeks. At school we are taking the normal precautions which I am sure you are also doing at home. All the classes will wash their hands before going for lunch and at key times during the day e.g. after PE lessons. We are also using assemblies to remind the pupils about binning used tissues and we are buying additional hand washing bottles and sprays to use on door handles, light switches and well-used surfaces. Ms Le who leads on Health Education in school, is co-ordinating a lot of these measures and we are putting posters around school.

Consultation

We have held the first public meeting for parents today and the next one will be today at 4.00. I would now encourage parents who haven’t responded to do so in the next couple of weeks. The more responses we receive, the better informed the governors will be when they come to make their decision after the consultation closes on 23rd March.

“Have a Heart Family Quiz Night” (Saturday 7th March 7:00-9:30pm)

We are holding our special quiz night this Saturday evening to raise money to buy a defibrillator for the school and the local community. For one night only your headmaster will become the quizmaster! Admission is £5 for adults and £3 for children (this includes a buffet plus soft refreshments; you can bring your own drinks). The winning team (minimum of 4 per team) will win £100. It would be great to see a good turn out on Saturday both to support the fundraising and equally important to have a fun evening. I promise not to make the questions too hard!

Book Day (6th March)

It is the official World Book Day tomorrow but we will be celebrating our day on Friday. On that day the children can come dressed as their favourite book character or indeed from a poem, play or any kind of literature. It is a non-uniform day so if they don’t want to dress up, they can still come in their own clothes and bring their £1 for CAFOD’s Lenten Appeal. I will also be giving out book tokens on Friday which the children can use at our Book Fairs later in the term.

Yours sincerely,

J Alexander (Head teacher)
