Year 6 Newsletter No. 9 – Wednesday 29th January 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

Gilwell Trip (4^th and 5^th May 2020)

Thank you to everyone who came to the meeting last week on a very cold January evening to go over the details of the trip to Gilwell Park in May. All the details of the trip including the presentation from the meeting are on the Year 6 page of the school website and you can now go onto the school shop to authorise and pay for the trip. As well as being the final trip for the Year 6s, it will also be my last residential trip. I have lost count of how many trips to Buckden, Gilwell and Kingswood I have done over the last 27 years but I know that I have enjoyed every moment of these trips and they will be one of my proudest memories and achievements of my time in the school. As a small thank you I am personally donating £10 towards the cost of every pupil so we can reduce the overall cost from £80 last year to £70 this year and hopefully make it a little more affordable. I would really like every Y6 pupil to go.    

Saturday Study Clubs

• Some more children were able to start the Saturday Study Club last week which was good. Just to remind everyone that the first lesson begins at 9:30am so the pupils should aim to arrive from around 9:15am onwards but please try to be on time. The club finishes at 12:00pm. This Saturday the study club will take place in the Year 5 classrooms because we have a lot going on in school this week including the First Communion Retreat. The clubs will run on the following Saturdays during term time up to the SATs in May.

• Saturday 29^th February, Saturday 7^th March, Saturday 14th March,
• Saturday 21^st March, Saturday 28^th March, Saturday 25^th April,
• Saturday 2^nd May.

• Wednesday 26^th February – Class 6P leading Ash Wednesday Service 9:00am
• Thursday 5^th March – Class 6C Assembly on “Death and New Life” 2:30pm
• Monday 9^th March – Bikeability Cycle Training this week
• Thursday 12^th March – Deanery Mass for Year 6 pupils in St Joseph’s 10:30am
• Wednesday 25^th March – Year 6 trip to Harry Potter World
• Monday 4^th May-Tuesday 5^th May – Residential trip to Gilwell Park
• Monday 11^th May – SATs Week
• Friday 3^rd July – Year 6 Deanery Sports Day
