Dear Parents/Carers,
I am writing to you all to ask for your Governors’ Fund contribution for 2020-21. As St Joseph’s is a voluntary aided school, the Governing Body is responsible for raising 10% of the cost of any building or maintenance work or for improving areas within school. During the past few years, several major projects would not have been possible without the contributions given so generously by our families. These have included:
1. A rolling programme of installing new equipment for the playground.
2. Replacing all the fire doors around school, making the school safer and more energy efficient.
3. Making the school as secure as possible for both pupils and adults by installing an intercom system on our gates.
4. A programme of phased redecoration around the school building including the dining room and stairs and creating outdoor learning environments for the children.
6. Replacing the outdated and inefficient Year 6 boilers and radiators and putting new carpets
in both Year 6 classes.
7. Refurbishing the area outside the dining room, library and main toilet block.
In the last 12 months we have replaced many of our fire doors and fire extinguishers around school plus replaced many of the corridor display boards with permanent fire resistant displays. We have also installed new skylights around the school and energy efficient lighting everywhere. Although the school has been able to access other sources of funding from both the local authority and diocese, the school still relies greatly on your contributions in order to just maintain the fabric and provide a building fit for your child’s education. If every family makes a contribution we can raise around £5,000 for the school.
The amount requested for this academic year 2020-21 is unchanged from last year, ₤30 for one child and ₤50 for families with more than one child in the school. To help make this more manageable for parents, we are giving the option of paying the contribution in termly instalments of £10 x 3 for one child and £20 x 2 and £10 for families. You can of course still make a single payment as before. Parents should pay online using the School Shop Pay+. It is vitally important that all families contribute towards the upkeep of the school. If you have a child in the current Year 3 you will already have paid for this year and for any older siblings in the school. Thank you in anticipation of your contribution to the Governors’ Fund.
Yours sincerely,
J Alexander (Head teacher)
