Thursday 22nd April 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you are well and keeping safe.
In school safeguarding is one of our biggest responsibilities to ensure our children are healthy, happy and safe. We constantly review our practices to ensure the safety and wellbeing of pupils and staff remains paramount.
End of day dismissal
As such, starting from today we will be altering our end of day dismissals which we trialled earlier in the week. Children will now be dismissed to their parents from inside the school playground. This allows all staff to see the adults clearly as they are dismissing children as well as ensure the safety of the children as they walk around to parents from the gate. Outside of school is incredibly busy and congested and we need to be confident that your children have reached you safely.
Procedures for Year 3 and 4
- Gate will open at 2:40 pm for Year 3 and Year 4 parents to enter the playground and stand next to the fence before the children are brought to the playground.
- Children will be dismissed at 2:45 pm
- Please do not arrive any later than 2:45 pm as you will not be allowed into the playground until all children have been dismissed to avoid any cross over at the school gate.
Procedures for Year 5 and 6
- Year 5 and Year 6 parents to enter the playground at 2:55 pm and stand next to the fence.
- Children will be dismissed at 3:00pm
- Please do not arrive any earlier than 2.55 pm to avoid congestion on the road outside.
Notices to all parents
To facilitate the smooth running of end of day dismissal we kindly ask for the following:
- Please leave promptly once you child has been collected from the playground and do not linger inside the playground or outside on the pavement to avoid congestion around the school.
- In the interests of other parents and staff and in line with our COVID 19 risk assessment – we kindly ask all parents to wear a face mask or face covering when entering the playground to help keep our community safe.
- Please remember to socially distance from other parents on the playground.
- As a school we will not dismiss to parents waiting in cars as this goes against our safeguarding protocols.
- Please contact the school if an adult other than yourself is collecting your child from school as we will not release any children to any other adult than their named parent or carer, unless we have permission to do so.
- If you want your child to walk home from school independently in Year 5 or 6, please ensure you have given written permission to the school.
As a school we have a duty of care for all our children and thank you for your support in supporting the safe dismissal of our children at the end of day.
If you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Kindest regards
Mrs D’Souza
